AWS NY Summit - Agents, Agents, Agents!

AWS NY Summit - Agents, Agents, Agents! | Mission
2:21

This past week, I was in Manhattan for the AWS New York Summit.

These events are regional miniature re:Invents, which means that they’re chock-full of announcements from AWS.

Unsurprisingly, the keynotes were dominated by AI, and specifically, AI agents.

I also had the opportunity to record a video with Jay Wessland, the CTO of the Boston Celtics, and we were featured during the Partner Summit keynote! Jay and I showcased the Mission / Celtics partnership and how AWS powers their game-changing analytics. It’s a super cool story! You can watch the full video here.

Agents are ready for prime time

We have been exploring agents together for quite some time, and for good reason. As foundation models continue to evolve and improve, context windows increase, and the appetite to move beyond POCs to production, agents are a key building block for the future.

In the early phases of a new disruptive technology, a frantic whirlwind of activity begins to give way to patterns, tools, and standardization. This week’s announcements represent a big step forward in that regard, providing builders the tools to create amazing experiences for customers.

Let’s take some time to review some of the most interesting announcements.

My Thoughts on the Announcements

Perhaps the most exciting news from AWS was the launch of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, which is a suite of services that attack the biggest obstacles to launching AI agents at scale.

AgentCore services are compatible with popular open-source tooling and provide an end-to-end solution for developers. AgentCore provides session memory, serverless execution environments, identity management, observability, and more.

With AgentCore along with existing services like Bedrock and SageMaker, AWS has reached a very high level of maturity for agentic generative AI.

Another big announcement is the addition of agents in the AWS Marketplace. While developing bespoke agents is quite important, the ability to combine them with pre-built, production-ready agents is truly exciting.

I’m looking forward to cosplaying as the Nick Fury of AI, assembling super-teams of agents. Agentic Avengers Assemble!
